Moroccan markets

The streets of Morocco are like brightly colored mazes. A labyrinth of colors and aromas and people.  Most of the women are in hijab and when the call to pray is announced over the loud speakers everyone stops to pray.  Even the simplest things are well adorned and decorated.

Most signs are written in Arabic and French and we are using our new Arabic words every chance we get.

In the market our first stop was to buy argon oil at a salesmean demonstration shop

Moroccan Lunch!!!

Our lunch was a typical Moroccan meal served at a popular hotel.  We were served huge portions of food for each table to share... soup appetizer, couscous, vegetables, chicken... chicken meatballs in a delicious sauce, a peanut butter dessert, and mint tea.  Overall everyone seemed to enjoy the food and the ambience.

Before leaving the boys made some friends with little boys who were looking at them through the room windows over looking the pool

We left the hotel nice and full... next up the market!!

Hercules caves, Morocco

Next stop we’re true Hercules caves

Here’s a link about the legend of the Hercules caves  which says

“Mythological tradition also holds that the Roman god Hercules stayed and slept in this cave before doing his 11th labour, (one of the 12 labours which King Eurystheus of Tiryns had given to him) which was to get golden apples from the Hesperides Garden, which some ancient Greek writers said was located nearby at Lixus (one of the cities of Larache)”

Camel rides

Next stop... camel rides!!

The rides were quick and just around a small parking lot for 2€... but how many people do you can say they rode a Camel in Morocco, Africa????  I fit in A much as I can in 2 weeks to give everyone a taste of the world, it’s my hope that that is enough to inspire them to go after the rest themselves... and they always do.

I tried my best to get pix and videos of each boy in the camel.  Here go some video... they had me cracking up btw... these are some real comedians.

Me, Jaden, Khalil, & Chancellor

Rashad, Jordan, Robert, Chelsea, Ms Denika, & Grant

Zach, Ms Pyron, Dominic, Mouhamed, Mr & Mrs Tanner

I didn’t not make everyone ride so you may not see your son in pictures or videos.  I left this part ya to each perskn’a comfort level.

Take a look at this video: https://youtu.be/fMHRCg4IUP4

After getting our exit passport stamps for leaving Spain (Europe in geneal) we received new stamps for our arrival into a new county... Morocco!!! Woohoo!!  For the African part of our voyage we had a second tour guide named Omar as well as our Spanish tour guide Vito.  Vito has gone to Morocco 68 times!!! We were in good hands.

Mosque

Our first stop was to see a panoramic view of Europe and Africa.  To the right is the Mediterranean Sea and to the left is the Atlantic Ocean!!

Of course we also took a group picture.  Your sons arepioneers  this is our school’s first time arriving on the continent of Africa.  Please give yourself a pat in the back... YOU made this happen for your son... I did my part but it’s your bravery and determination as a parent that ultimately makes a difference in your sons life.

Arabic language lesson and sailing to Africa

Hi everyone yesterday was yet another amazing day!

On the way to Morocco we had a quick Arabic language lesson and got a chance to see tons of huge modern windmills!

The boys started using their new Arabic words immediately.  And made learning the language a lot of fun.  Watch this video, how many of these words did you already know and how many can you remember?

In total we are now a group 24.  The 19 of us from the beginning, our tour guide Vito and his daughter and the 3 ladies (former BEST teacher’s a Dr Malik & Mrs Tanner, and her daughter Chelsea Tanner... we have almost the whole Tanner family here!! Woohoo!)

The boat to Tanger, Morocco.  Was HUGE... many cars were also being taken to Morocco with us!!

The sail there was pretty smooth and took less than an hour.  Many of us took a little nap.  I was sure to give those you asked a little Dramamine for motion sickness, we were all fine though.
