When I woke up my host mother had treats for me to try. One was "dulce de coco" the other was "dulce de papaya" Both fruits were made into a sweet yummy treat.
My host mother gave me the necklace that I have on!!! I’ll always cherish it.
When I got to the school the boys were already there each with a baseball glove throwing the ball to each other and their Colombian friends. As the player we waited for the foundation children to trickle in for their English classes. Today’s assignment was for the boys to teach Karen’s English class.
They started with introductions. The boys then taught them how to say their birthday month, and to describe themselves using sentences like "I am happy, I am not sad" then asking another classmate. "Are you happy or sad?"
After teaching that for an hour we decided to spice up the class by teaching the Chacha slide. Before dancing, however, we taught the dance instruction to listen out for in the sims and the movement to go with it. "Slide to the left, slide to the right.... everybody clap your hands"
Once we taught all the dance moves we moved the party out into the school indoor open area. As the DJs set up the kids walked around in groups introducing themselves and having small conversations in English. Once hemisic was correctly connected to the speaker we started dancing.
After dancing, class time was over but most of the Colombian students hung around to keep the party going.
Once it started getting dark we sent our new students home then also went to our families for dinner. We all agreed to meet up at the center after dinner.
