Feeding a one woman army and always escorted

The music didn’t stop until around 3am last night, but we were all unbothered by it. My breakfast wa huge and I teased my host mom that I’m one little woman and not a whole army... she’s not going to listen... I already know how this goes.  The food is delicious though.

After breakfast we all met up at the school and I made sure the boys were settled in their classes.  Demetrius’ host mom walked him to school and was so sweet telling me that she wants to keep in contact with him when he leaves and she wanted my help to make sure that happened.  This type of international bond is one of many reasons why these trips are a important.

Once I saw that they were fine I said goodbye to everyone, the plan was to catch a taxi to downtown to change money and return.  Once Alex’s wife found out she insisted that her nephew escort me, they don’t want any of us going anywhere alone.  Although I find it unnecessary I do appreciate the high level of concern and care and if nothing else the company.

The exchange rate is $1USD= $2,771 Colombian pesos.  The taxi ride is less than a dollar... $800 pesos each way, which is approximately 28¢!!!!

We exchange money and returned to the center just in time for a pineapple break.

After classes we all went home for lunch and a siesta (nap) we had three hours before we needed to be back to school so that made for good quality time with our families.  Jordan’s host brother came to get him on motorcycle.  They love less than two blocks from the school but it was still a cool experience.

Ever day I check in with each host mom to make sure everything is OK. When I went to go check on Dr Malik’s family it turned into a photo shoot

I went home was still served enough for a small village then had a really REALLY Good siesta... Zzzzzzz....
